About The Band

Codavita are Fergus on vocals, guitar and studio, and Guy on bass. They met at school and hated each other for years. Finally they bonded over a shared love of Ultravox, and ran a compact cassette library together.

They were in bands before Codavita, including The Wish which sounded a bit too much like Howard Jones, and Fear Of Music which made difficult industrial art rock.

In Their Own Words

"I love pop music from the 70’s and 80's. Boney M wrote an ode to the deranged mystic Rasputin, Adam Ant sung about Picasso visiting the planet of the apes. Chart pop could be as strange as it liked.

They got me thinking that it might be ok to write songs about zombie movies and DIY levitation devices made from kitchen foil, and then give them the sound of modern pop producers like Timbaland or Xenomania.

Now I come to say it, it seems like madness. But it's way too late now, work on our first album is steaming ahead. It might be pop, or it might be a complete aberration. I hope you enjoy it whichever."

Why Codavita?

"Codavita is an essential ingredient in all great music. The lead singer of The Pixies told me in a dream. I knew exactly what he meant at the time, and have been trying to remember ever since."
